Thermal Printhead Replacement Cost

Zebra Technology has launched a new program called the Printhead Protection Program. The program states that if you agree to purchase exclusive Zebra products for all your thermal printing device needs, they will replace your print heads for free for the life of your printing device.

Printhead: Average lifespan of a print head is 1.5 million linear inches.

Printer: Zebra 105sl 203 DPI printer as our test case.

Labels: 4 inch label. Printing 4 linear inches per label. 1,500,000 linear inches/4 inches per label = 375,000 labels

Wax Ribbon: 4.02 x 1476 feet with a 1 inch core. Converting feet into inches yields: 1476 * 12 = 17,712 inches.
1,500,000 linear inches/17,712 inches per ribbon = 84.666 Zebra rolls per print head.
