Ganson's ChequeScribe Check Software
ChequeScribe II is a Windows check software system that interfaces to most accounting systems (even if the data comes from another system). Checks are printed on a MICR Laser Printer (available from Ganson). ChequeScribe II provides a cost-effective and secure solution for all of your check printing requirements.
ChequeScribe II check software interfaces with all accounting software systems to produce well designed MICR laser checks for all of your check printing needs.
ChequeScribe II check software imports the payment files generated by your accounting system and prints checks directly to your laser printer quickly and effectively. Payments files containing large numbers of checks are easily handled by ChequeScribe.
ChequeScribe II prints checks on blank security check paper, saving you the headaches and costs associated with maintaining inventories of pre-printed checks.
Most major brands of laser printers are supported, including Hewlett Packard, Lexmark, Brother, Xerox, etc. Contact your Ganson salesperson for details on your choice of printer.
Maximum Flexibility
ChequeScribe II can manage an unlimited number of different companies and bank
accounts. Information may be easily updated by authorized personnel providing for full
control over the system. Check layout including details about company, bank account and
logos can be easily customized to meet specific requirements.
Variety of Check Layouts
The standard 8 1/2" x 11" one voucher layout holds a space-maximizing 46 lines
of voucher details. Other standard formats include the 8 1/2" x 11" two voucher
layout with a duplicate perforated file stub, and the 8 1/2" x 14" format with
two checks per page. Detail lines are unlimited. When the first check page is full,
additional detail lines "overflow" onto the next page bearing the same check
serial number. File copies may be printed on plain bond paper in a "copy" print
run immediately after check printing. Post-processing of checks is minimized as
ChequeScribe II checks are printed on a single page rather than on multi-part forms that
require bursting and sorting.
Computer System Options
ChequeScribe runs on a stand-alone PC, Local Area Network or Client Server under
Windows 95, 98 or NT. A minimum 486 SX 33 MHz processor with 8 MB RAM and mouse or other
compatible pointing device is recommended.
Manual Checks
Along with its compatibility with most popular accounting software, ChequeScribe now
offers the capability to generate checks independently of an accounting system. Check
payment details are entered in a flexible Manual Checks input Windows screen to be printed
against the multiple bank accounts defined within the ChequeScribe system. Check serial
numbers may be assigned at the time checks are created or automatically assigned by the
system. A report of checks printed may be exported in a variety of formats to allow for
automated posting to the general ledger of the accounting system.
MICR Font Formats
All check information including the MICR line is printed to meet character design
and positioning requirements of the American Banking Association, Canadian Banking
Association and American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Established international
MICR fonts E13B & CMC7 are available.
Advanced Security
ChequeScribe II provides a check printing environment utilizing advanced techniques in
data handling security. A security hardlock key attaches to the parallel printer port of
the PC and is required to print valid checks. All check printing activity is archived in a
database providing a complete audit trail. Historical reports may be previewed or printed
at any time. Positive pay is becoming a widely used method of reducing check fraud. The
ChequeScribe database may be exported in specified formats to allow direct transfer of
information to the Bank for positive pay.
Signature Management
ChequeScribe offers three signature handling options, each secure and convenient. All
signatures are printed according to amount limits which are set by the systems
administrator. Signatures are printed subject to amount limits imposed upon the logged on
operator.
Encrypted Signature Bitmaps
Signatures may be stored as encrypted bitmap files in the ChequeScribe software to be
printed as pre-selected for each bank account.
Magnetic Signature Cards and Card
Readers
Signatures are stored as encrypted bitmap files in the ChequeScribe software
and authorized by "swiping" magnetic signature cards through a card reader
attached to the PC keyboard. This allows the supervisor to authorize all check runs
prior to printing.
Audit Reports
All check printing activity is archived in a database providing a complete
audit trail. Historical reports may be previewed, or printed at any time.
Automated Interface
The AutoCheque feature of the ChequeScribe system provides a
secure and controlled method of managing payments at remote sites. Remote site check
printing occurs with minimal operator involvement.
